Bridal hair and makeup consultation, what to expect.

Im so excited that bridal season has started! Many brides have already booked their hair and makeup consultation for their upcoming wedding, and in this blogpost I wanted to share with you what happens during our meeting.

The reason why meeting for a consultation before the wedding day is important both for the bride and the stylist, is to make things run a lot smoother on the wedding day. Its a day when you should be happy and excited and focus on your big day, and just sit back and relax while having your hair and makeup done.

Its great if you can share your ideas for the wedding. Is it a beach wedding? formal/casual? Or perhaps a special theme wedding, whatever you decide the first thing I recommend before meeting for the consultation is that you know which wedding dress you will be wearing, that way we can create a beautiful style that goes well with the dress. I also always recommend to look for hair/makeup inspiration images that you can send beforehand to your stylist, just to get an idea what kind of style you like.

A consultation takes about 2 hours and  its great if you bring with you any accessories you will be wearing. Then after discussing what I mentioned in the text above, we start trying out which hair/makeup style that will look the best on you. Sometimes it feels right straight away and sometimes you need to try different options first. Its important that you give your honest opinion, as during the consultation we have time to try different options -but not so much on the wedding day 😉

Another thing to keep in mind is that it might feel a bit strange to have a bridal hairstyle and makeup when you are in your normal clothes, when the wedding dress and accessories are in place, it will feel totally different.

Looking back at 2013 and wishing you a Happy New Year!

The year has almost come to an end it has been a very busy year with lots of changes, I moved back to Stockholm after 13 years living abroad. It has been a great wedding year with over 30 weddings completed between my excellent team in Barcelona and myself in both Stockholm and Barcelona.

I’ve gained lots of new contacts this year and among them I started to collaborate with Wedding In Sweden, see previous post where we interviewed Johanna. We already have weddings booked together for next year and I’m very excited to join Wedding in Sweden at Bröllopsfeber at Nacka Strand 26-27 January 2014, Sweden’s largest Wedding event. More about this and where you can find us at the event soon.
Apart from weddings Ive also been busy doing other things. In June for example, I completed the mentoring project for Karteena in Malaysia where I supported her to grow her mobile hair treatment business and it was really giving and we still stay in touch. I was also doing hair and make up for Wivica Oest where it was a tough 11 day work at the photo shoot but I really enjoyed it so might be something I will do more of in the future. There I also got a chance to work with very skilful wedding photographer Ian Johnson who I worked with at an Austrian/Swedish wedding in October this year.
I hope you all had a great 2013 and that next year will be even better. I’m excited to work with more international brides both in Stockholm and Barcelona and will also get married myself in March (!) so then it’s my turn to be beautified for the big day 🙂

Aboslutely Gorgeous continues to collaborate with Pinups & Pimps

Remember the previous post about the Pinups & Pimps salon  in Barcelona where I worked the last 2 years? Pinups & Pimps has now a new owner and the salon has gotten a completely new look, and it looks great!


Absolutely Gorgeous BCN continues to collaborate with Pinups & Pimps and this year we have had many weddings in Barcelona together with Esther and Cecilia from the salon who is also part of the Absolutely Gorgeous BCN team. We have been working together for years, in previously hair salons as Anthony Llobet as well.  The calender is slowly filling up for weddings next year in Barcelona so hope to do more beautiful weddings so I can soon come back to Barcelona.

The Pinups & Pimps salon offers, in addition to normal hair services also make-up sessions and also Keratin treatments for your here. Also if you need to get a haircut or colour done for the wedding you can visit the salon first and normal wedding hair and make-up trials can also be done here.

I highly recommend a visit!

Styling Juliane for her wedding day at Hotel Arts, Barcelona

This spring Absolutely Gorgeous BCN started the collaboration with the luxury hotel Hotel Arts in Barcelona. Absolutely Gorgeous BCN has been chosen to be the wedding hair & make up provider for the hotel and we have already several lovely brides we styled with the lovely views from the Hotel Arts.  Today we want to share a few images of our lovely Austrian bride Juliane that got married in Barcelona at Hotel Arts in March earlier this year and the hair and make-up stylists for this wedding were Malin and Cecilia from the Absolutely Gorgeous BCN team.

Meet Brudepikene – Wedding planner from Norway

You might remember a few Norwegian brides we’ve blogged about earlier. Organizing those weddings most of the times are  Brudepikene – a wedding planner from Norway. We’ve talked to Marit from Brudepikene and she is here answering a few questions to tell us a little bit more about themselves.

1. How and when did you start and what service do you offer?

Brudepikene (which means “the bridesmaids” in Norwegian) started nearly 11 years ago after seeing how much stress friends had, trying to plan their own weddings. We have a background from the event and travel industry, and felt like we had the experience to assist couples in planning their weddings.

We help organize weddings in Norway, both for locals, but also international citizens who want a destination wedding here in Norway. It is also an increasing trend that Norwegians want destinations weddings abroad, especially in sunny countries in the south of Europe. We can do anything from organizing the whole wedding day from a to z, to only doing the decorations. In 2013 we also opened our own store with bridal wear and accessories, so the business is always evolving.


In which countries do you organize weddings?

We organize weddings in many countries. Our most popular countries, besides Norway, are Italy, Spain, Croatia, Greece and Thailand.

How did you get to know Absolutely Gorgeous BCN / STHLM and tell us a bit out the collaboration?

Barcelona is by far our most popular wedding destination in Spain, and we were excited when we heard a rumour some years ago that there was a Swedish hairdresser and make-up artist in the city. After some searching we found Catrin and Absolutely Gorgeous. We’re so happy with the collaboration that Catrin and her team are always our first choice for hairdressers and make-up artists in Barcelona, and has been for several years.

How does Absolutely Gorgeous BCN/STHLM differ from other wedding make-up and hair stylists?

It’s not always easy to find professionals in other countries that are really good at what they do, and know what looks the Scandinavian brides want on their wedding day. Since our couples are mostly Norwegian, and rarely speak Spanish/Catalan, we also need professionals that speak English or a Scandinavian language well. In Absolutely Gorgeous we found the perfect match. We always get quick replies, excellent service, and most importantly: our clients are always very happy!

We at Absolutely Gorgeous are also very pleased with our collaboration with Brudepikene. Thanks to them we’ve styled some lovely brides from Norway, and wishing do to lots more 🙂
