Cherie Blair mentioning my work for her Foundation For Women on Sky News

Last year I wrote a post about how I got involved with Cherie Blair Foundation For Women, after I helped Cherie with her hair and make up for the Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

Today Cherie Blair was on Sky news in London where she mentioned my work for the foundation. I was a mentor to Karteena from Malaysia in the beginning of setting up her mobile hairdressing business.

I really recommend everyone to become a mentor! I will definitely apply again 🙂

Happy weekend everyone!

Attending Swedens largest wedding fare and finding out what the 2014 bridal trends are!

Last weekend I attended together with wedding planner Wedding In Sweden the largest wedding fare in Sweden, called “Bröllopsfeber“, held every year in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö.
Over 4000 visitors came to the event to get inspiration, ideas and finding suppliers. My job was to give hair and makeup consultations, and trying out suitable hair and makeup styles on becoming brides.

When I got a chance I went to have a quick look around and stopped at the catwalk bridal fashion show, where the big wedding brands showed the trends for 2014. What I saw were wedding dresses with lace, braids, loose up-dos, hair flowers (crown of flowers is a big trend 2014), big  hair accessories, tiaras, pearls. As for makeup eyeliner and nude lips seem to be the big wedding makeup trend for this year.  To sum up I can say I thought a lot of the Great Gatsby movie.

Here are a few images I found on Pinterest which well describe the trends for 2014:

I hope you found this inspiring and good luck with your wedding planning! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Absolutely Gorgeous Sthlm at the Salon International in London

A bit more than two weeks ago I attended the “Salon International” in London that is held every year and shows the latest within the hair industry. It was a great inspiring experience and I was very happy this year it was focused on hair ups, since that is what we mostly do when we do wedding hair styling. I stayed most of the time at the Babyliss Pro stand watching Patrick Cameron, who is really famous for updo’s and his work is really amazing and inspiring.

What about the hair trends? What’s really in at the moment is long and “sexy” hair with the focus on that the hair shouldn’t be too perfect. Isn’t that great? Suits perfect for us people with busy schedules, right? Curls are also in, but again with the focus on the natural hair look, not too perfect. To sum up, what is trendy now is  the vintage hair look, braids, waves, lots of texture (sexy hair) and long hair upstyled so it looks like a bob!

My days in London was very intensive but very inspiring. I saw new interesting products that I would like to incorporate, met lots of other hairdressers, bought the bridal book by Patrick Cameron and also a few different tools for hair ups from him. I am really excited to start using all the hair techniques, tools and ideas I got from the Salon International and of course looking forward to the next Salon International.

Until next time,
