Last year I wrote a post about how I got involved with Cherie Blair Foundation For Women, after I helped Cherie with her hair and make up for the Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

Today Cherie Blair was on Sky news in London where she mentioned my work for the foundation. I was a mentor to Karteena from Malaysia in the beginning of setting up her mobile hairdressing business.

Looking back at 2013 and wishing you a Happy New Year!

The year has almost come to an end it has been a very busy year with lots of changes, I moved back to Stockholm after 13 years living abroad. It has been a great wedding year with over 30 weddings completed between my excellent team in Barcelona and myself in both Stockholm and Barcelona.

I’ve gained lots of new contacts this year and among them I started to collaborate with Wedding In Sweden, see previous post where we interviewed Johanna. We already have weddings booked together for next year and I’m very excited to join Wedding in Sweden at Bröllopsfeber at Nacka Strand 26-27 January 2014, Sweden’s largest Wedding event. More about this and where you can find us at the event soon.
Apart from weddings Ive also been busy doing other things. In June for example, I completed the mentoring project for Karteena in Malaysia where I supported her to grow her mobile hair treatment business and it was really giving and we still stay in touch. I was also doing hair and make up for Wivica Oest where it was a tough 11 day work at the photo shoot but I really enjoyed it so might be something I will do more of in the future. There I also got a chance to work with very skilful wedding photographer Ian Johnson who I worked with at an Austrian/Swedish wedding in October this year.
I hope you all had a great 2013 and that next year will be even better. I’m excited to work with more international brides both in Stockholm and Barcelona and will also get married myself in March (!) so then it’s my turn to be beautified for the big day 🙂

Aboslutely Gorgeous continues to collaborate with Pinups & Pimps

Remember the previous post about the Pinups & Pimps salon  in Barcelona where I worked the last 2 years? Pinups & Pimps has now a new owner and the salon has gotten a completely new look, and it looks great!


Absolutely Gorgeous BCN continues to collaborate with Pinups & Pimps and this year we have had many weddings in Barcelona together with Esther and Cecilia from the salon who is also part of the Absolutely Gorgeous BCN team. We have been working together for years, in previously hair salons as Anthony Llobet as well.  The calender is slowly filling up for weddings next year in Barcelona so hope to do more beautiful weddings so I can soon come back to Barcelona.

The Pinups & Pimps salon offers, in addition to normal hair services also make-up sessions and also Keratin treatments for your here. Also if you need to get a haircut or colour done for the wedding you can visit the salon first and normal wedding hair and make-up trials can also be done here.

I highly recommend a visit!

Russian couple getting married on the beach in Sitges, close to Barcelona

The Absolutely Gorgeous BCN team did the hair and make up for a beach wedding outside of Barcelona.  The Russian couple, Julia & David currently living in Germany, got married on the beach in Sitges, a lovely town just outside of Barcelona. After that the ceremony had been held on the beach and the wedding party continued at Vila Almiral de la Font.


Catrin Söderdahl from the Absolutely Gorgeous BCN team did the hair and make up for both the bride Julia and her bridesmaid. Julia is a former ballet dancer and a model. She wanted all her hair putting up and to emphasize her eyes for the make up.

Absolutely Gorgeous BCN is building up a bigger team both in Barcelona and in Stockholm, to make sure more brides and wedding guests will look gorgeous for the big day!

Meet our first team member to be introduced, Esther.

Who are you?

I’m Esther from Barcelona, Spain. I speak English, Spanish and Catalan.

Tell us a bit how you got into the beauty sector and your experience?

I always had a passion for make up and a desire to make others look ‘gorgeous”. At the age of 16 I studied beauty, specializing in natural nails. At the age of 19 I decided to move to London to enhance my beauty skills. Over a 5 year period I worked in various salons across London, allowing me incorporate cosmopolitan and contemporary styles into my work.

How do you know Catrin?

Catrin introduced me to the beautiful world of weddings and this is how I started collaborating with Absolutely Gorgeous BCN back in 2011.

Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti.

Mi nombre es Esther, soy  de Barcelona y hablo castellano, catalán e inglés.

¿Cómo empezaste en el sector de belleza?

Empecé a dedicarme a la belleza gracias a mi pasión por el maquillaje. A la edad de 16 años estudié estética especializándome en uñas naturales y maquillaje profesional, pronto empecé a dedicarme a colaborar en eventos de moda y bodas. Finalmente, a los 19 años, me gradué en peluquería y trabaje en Barcelona como estilista hasta que decidí mudarme a Londres, durante los 5 años de mi estancia allí, trabaje en salones y en moda.

¿Y como conociste a Catrin?

A mi vuelta a Barcelona en el 2011, conocí a Catrin y fue ella la que me introdujo en el apasionante mundo de las bodas, y me permitió empezar a colaborar en Absolutely Gorgeous BCN, para mi es un lujo poder formar parte en el día mas especial de toda mujer.
